What business analysis means at Deosoft

Before any system gets designed, someone has to answer a harder question: is this the right problem to solve, and is it worth solving right now? Business analysis is where we pressure-test the idea — the cost, the return, the people it affects — and turn it into a business case your leadership can actually approve.

Where system analysis asks "how should this be built," business analysis asks "should this be built, and what would success look like." We often run both together, but each stands on its own — you can bring us in just to validate a decision before a rupee is spent on development.

Where our analysts focus first

Four areas we always work through before recommending any course of action.

Needs Assessment

What's actually broken, for whom, and how much it's costing the business today.

Business Case & ROI

Cost, timeline and expected return laid out clearly enough for finance to approve.

Stakeholder Alignment

Getting operations, IT and leadership agreeing on the same problem before scope is set.

Process Improvement

Fixing how a process works before deciding whether it even needs new software.

What's inside a Deosoft business analysis engagement

A structured path from "something isn't working" to a decision your leadership can stand behind.

Needs & Stakeholder Analysis

We find out what leadership, staff and customers each actually need — separately

Structured interviews and SWOT/PESTLE-style reviews surface where each group's version of "the problem" agrees, and where it quietly doesn't.

  • Stakeholder mapping & interviews
  • SWOT / PESTLE assessment
  • Current-state vs desired-state gap review

Business Case Development

A recommendation built on numbers, not opinion

We size the cost, quantify the expected benefit, and lay out the risk of doing nothing — in a format built for a leadership or investment-committee sign-off.

  • Cost-benefit & ROI modeling
  • Options comparison & recommendation
  • Risk & "do nothing" scenario
Prioritised requirements on sticky notes
Requirements & Roadmap

A prioritised list your teams can act on immediately

Requirements are ranked by business value using MoSCoW, then sequenced into a phased roadmap — so you know what to fund first and what can wait.

  • MoSCoW-prioritised requirement list
  • Phased delivery roadmap
  • Handoff to system analysis / development

Analysed with frameworks your leadership team already trusts

We use recognised business-analysis frameworks so the output is easy for your finance and leadership teams to evaluate, not just your technical ones.

Business Analysis — Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from your System Analysis service?

Business analysis answers "should we do this, and what's the return" — it's strategic and often comes first. System analysis answers "how exactly should this be built" — it's technical and comes after the decision is made. We can run either independently, or both back-to-back.

Do we need a fixed budget before you start?

No — building that budget with real numbers is usually part of what we deliver. A rough range is enough to start the engagement.

What if the recommendation is not to build anything?

That happens, and we'll say so directly. A business case that saves you from an unnecessary build is still a successful engagement.

How long does a typical engagement take?

Most business case engagements run three to five weeks. Smaller, single-department reviews can be completed in under two.

Can Deosoft carry the project forward after the business case is approved?

Yes — we move directly into system analysis and development if you choose to continue with us, using the same roadmap and requirements as the starting point.
